Users Encouraged To Visit Other Local Branches
For most of their summer recess, Sunnyside children will be without the services of their neighborhood library, as it will be closed for roof repairs, the Queens Borough Public Library announced.
Located at 43-06 Greenpoint Ave., the branch will be shut down at the close of business this Saturday, June 21 and remain shut through mid-August while crews install a new roof.
Some service will be provided to library users every Friday from 8:30 to 5:30 p.m. during the shutdown, as Queens Library will set up a mobile unit outside the location.
While the branch is closed, customers are welcome to use any other branch in the Queens Library system. The closest branches to Sunnyside include Woodside (54-22 Skillman Ave.), Court Square (25-01 Jackson Ave. in Long Island City) and Long Island City (37-44 21st St. in Ravenswood).
The latter two locations have 24- hour, self-serve return kiosks, allowing borrowers to return books, periodicals or digital media at any time.
Customers can also renew borrowed materials online at www.queenslibrary.org or by calling 1-718-990-0700.
City Council Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer provided funding for the new roof, which is being installed under the direction of the city’s Department of Design and Construction.
