In the left photo, classic sounds of the 1950s filled the air at Juniper Valley Park last Tuesday night, July 8, during the first performance in a free concert series at the Middle Village park’s softball field. As shown, the New York Exceptions entertained an audience with their renditions of doowop hits Shown at right, doowopl royalty took the stage last Wednesday night, July 9, in Maspeth during a free concert at the Maspeth Federal Savings Bank parking lot. Hundreds gathered under the tent to enjoy performances by Larry Chance and The Earls, known for their doowop hit “Remember When”, and Tommy Mara and The Crests, who performed “16 Candles” and other favorites.
