Arrest Maspeth Teens For Local Break-In

Trying to break into a nearby business proved costly for two Maspeth teenagers collared by police last Thursday night, July 31, it was reported.

They were identified by police as Mateusz Gromek, 16, and John Mann, 17, both residents of 69th Lane.

According to information provided by the Queens District Attorney’s office, the duo allegedly burglarized a shop located on Grand Avenue near 69th Lane, around the corner from their residences, at about 11:25 p.m. last Thursday.

Reportedly, an employee witnessed the suspects allegedly prying open a rear garage door and confronted them. Upon doing so, police said, the suspects fled on foot.

Officers from the 104th Precinct were called to the scene. During a search, they reportedly located Gromek and Mann a short time later.

Both suspects were charged with third-degree attempted burglary and criminal mischief, it was noted.

They were arraigned in Queens Criminal Court last Friday, Aug. 1, before Judge Michele Armstrong. Gromek was ordered held on $50,000 bond or $25,000 cash bail, while Mann’s bail was set at $30,000 cash or $15,000 bond.

The duo is due back in court on Aug. 13.
