Prayers and words of comfort continued the healing process during Glendale’s annual vigil on Sunday, Sept. 7, at Dry Harbor Playground honoring the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The service took place at the memorial garden featuring a monument dedicated to the 42 residents of Glendale, Middle Village, Ridgewood and Woodhaven who died at the World Trade Center. Their names were read, and flowers were placed at the monument in their memory. Pictured at right is Bishop David Banke, pastor of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Cypress Hills, who led a benediction. Various elected officials and community leaders participated in the vigil.
