New Prosecutors Join Da’s Office

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown recently announced the appointment of 21 law school graduates as assistant district attorneys. The new assistants, who were sworn in will commence their prosecutorial careers with an intensive training course led by Assistant District Attorneys Kevin M. Duddy, director of Trial Advocacy, and Jennifer L. Naiburg, deputy director of Trial Advocacy. Over the next several weeks, the new assistant district attorneys will add to their knowledge of the law through lectures, courtroom observation and mock hearings. They will also receive practical, hands-on experience by going out on patrol with police officers, participate in simulations at the New York Police Department’s Tactics House and study firearms at the Police Department’s outdoor firing range. The course will also include visits to correctional institutions and alternative sentencing programs. The new prosecutors, shown with Brown, are Joseph Z. Amsel, Suzanne M. Bettis, Michael Curtis, Joseph P. Donnelly IV, Kaitlyn E. Flynn, Joseph Grasso, Michelle J. Holmes, Sonia A. Kaczmarzyk, Samantha Kapelman, Donald Kernisant Jr., Gregory M. Lasak, Matthew Luongo, Amy E. Markel, Timothy R. McGrath, Alexander Mendez, Kasey S. Parente, Caroline Schneider, Erik Snipas, Brenna R. Strype, Antonio A. Vittglio and Jonathan K. Yi.
