Sweet Lesson at Richmond Hill School

Richmond Hill students got a firsthand experience at maple syrup production during a demonstration presented by the New York State Mobile Maple Trailer during a visit to P.S. 254 last Thursday, Sept. 18. Students from upstate Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School educated youngsters on the various parts of the syrup-making process, fromtapping sap out of maple trees to boiling the sugary sap until it reaches the proper consistency. Assemblyman Mike Miller, who helped organized the maple trailer’s visit, is pictured with youngsters in the right photo.
