ELIZABETH A. ECKSTEIN of
Ridgewood died on Wednesday,
September 24, at the age of 77. A
native of Brooklyn, she was the
beloved wife of Vincent Eckstein
and dear sister-in-law of Patricia
Passaro and Geraldine Reese. She
is also survived by six nieces and
nephews and 11 great-nieces and
nephews. A Mass of Christian
Burial was offered at Our Lady of
the Miraculous Medal Church,
Ridgewood, followed by interment at the Cemetery of the Evergreens,
Brooklyn, under the direction of Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood
Chapels, 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood.

GASPER J. PIRRELLO died on Monday, October 6, at the age of
91. He was the beloved husband of Nancy Pirrello, loving father of
Michael Pirrello and John Pirrello, father-in-law of Laurie and Lori,
cherished grandfather of Matthew and Stephanie; Michael; John;
Megan and Andrew; Jennifer; Michael; Daniel; Paul; Lucas; Joshua;
and grace, great-grandfather of Nathan and dear brother of Mary
Occhineri, Anna Viola and the late Peter Pirrello and Josephine
Napolitano. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and
friends. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II.
AMass of Christian Burial will be offered tomorrow, Friday, October
10, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Woodside, followed by
interment at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, L.I., under the
direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Ave., Maspeth.

JAMES J. MANLEY of Ridgewood died on Monday, October 6, at
the age of 86. A native of Brooklyn, he was the beloved husband of
Joan and devoted father of Steven Manley, Kenneth Manley, Richard
Manley, John Manley and James Manley. He is also survived by nine
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was a U.S. Army
veteran. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Our Lady of the
Miraculous Medal Church, Ridgewood, followed by interment at All
Faiths Cemetery, Middle Village, under the direction of Morton

HILDA TAVERAS of Brooklyn died on Saturday, October 4, at the
age of 53. A native of Santiago, Dominican Republic, she was the
beloved wife of Juan Tavarez, devoted mother of Wilda Tavarez and
Juan Tavarez and loving daughter of Maria Taveras. She is also
survived by two grandchildren. AMass of Christian Burial was offered

79. She was the beloved wife of Joseph C. Pavia, loving mother of
Joseph C. Pavia, Richard Pavia, Lisa Coffey and Charles Pavia,
mother-in-law of Marianne and John, cherished grandmother of Kim,
Richard, Dina, Charles, Nicole, Christine, Andrew and Matthew and
dear sister of Patricia Tranchese, Domenica Girimonte and the late
William Girimonte, Caroline Russo and Louise Sforza. She is also
survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Mass of
Christian Burial was offered on Saturday, October 4, at St. Elizabeth
Church, Ozone Park, followed by interment at the Cemetery of the

native of Brooklyn, she was the wife of the late Desmond and devoted mother of Brian Murphy. A Mass
