Cops Seek Pedicured Perp, Pal For B’wick Slay
Two unidentified men remain at large in connection with the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man following a dispute inside a Bushwick nail salon last Thursday, Oct. 23, law enforcement sources reported.
Police identified the victim as Demeatrice Mayo of Stuyvesant Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
Reportedly, the shooting occurred at around 1:59 p.m. last Thursday inside Finest Nails Inc. located at 1165 Myrtle Ave., off Troutman Street.
According to information obtained by police, Mayo and the two suspects-identified only as black men-entered the location moments earlier. One of the suspects reportedly sat down for a pedicure.
As he was being serviced, police said, Mayo got into a verbal dispute, the reasons for which remain under investigation.
Moments later, authorities said, the suspect’s accomplice- who was seated by the door-got up, approached Mayo, pulled out a handgun and opened fire. The victim was reportedly with multiple gunshots.
Following the gunfire, the two suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Officers from the 83rd Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. Paramedics brought Mayo to Woodhull Hospital Center, where he died a short time later.
Various police units canvassed the surrounding area for evidence and the suspects, but no immediate arrests were made despite those efforts, it was noted.
The investigation is ongoing.
