Students at Ridgewood’s P.S. 81 celebrated great works of children’s literature and literacy with their annual “Hats Off to Reading” parade around the campus last Wednesday, Oct. 8. As shown, classes created colorful hats based on a popular book and then donned them during a parade around the school. Pictured from top to bottom are fifth-graders from Mr. Haberman’s class, who celebrated “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll; fourthgraders from Ms. Nahoum’s class, whose hats were themed for “The Tarantula Scientist” by Sy Montgomery; and Ms. Saleh with Ms. Catalano’s first-grade class, who made hats for “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle.
