Thousands of Queens residents took a two-mile walk through Flushing Meadows-Corona Park on Sunday morning, Oct. 19, for the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society. Gathering near the Unisphere, teams of walkers-many of them wearing pink for breast cancer awareness- took fund-raising steps in support of the society’s ongoing research and treatment efforts. Among the organizations that participated included P.S. 299 in Bushwick, the 108th Precinct and Queens Community Board 5.
