Queens Borough President Melinda Katz presented a proclamation to the organizers of The Gladys Ricart and Victims of Domestic Violence Memorial Walk, also known as the “Brides’ March,” when they visited Borough Hall on Wednesday, Oct. 1. Since 2001 the Walk, which features female participants wearing wedding gowns and male participants wearing all black, has been held annually in memory of domestic violence victims like Ricart, who was murdered on her wedding day. Katz commended the organizers for their work and expressed hope that their efforts will help ensure that no one has to suffer abuse in any relationship.
