A five-alarm blaze swept a four-story apartment building in Ozone Park Thursday, leaving dozens homeless
The blaze, which broke out just before 2:30 p.m. at 103-49 97th St., was concentrated in the cock loft and the roof, a spokeswoman for the
Fire Department said.
Nearly 200 firefighters from 44 units battled the fire, which was brought under control at 6:42 p.m., she said.
The fire marshals are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire, the FDNY said.
CBS New York reported dozens of residents were displaced from their homes in the 44-unit building and had to seek shelter elsewhere just
as the holiday season was getting under way.
Two residents had minor injuries and refused medical attention. A third resident went to Jamaica Hospital briefly, she said.
Four firefighters were taken to Jamaica Hospital with minor injuries and released.
