Man sought in Elmhurst alleged rape attempt: NYPD

ELMHURST — Police were searching for a man wanted in connection with an attempted rape on 34th Avenue last month, the NYPD said.

The Police Department released a sketch of a suspect officers said allegedly grabbed a 24-year-old walking on the street around 2:40 a.m. Dec. 20, put his hands around her mouth, pulled her to the ground and tried to sexually assault her.

The woman fought him off, and police said he ran in an unknown direction.

The victim was not injured, according to the NYPD.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male, who is about 5-foot-5 and 130 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.
