A Richmond Hill woman who was charged with murdering her one-month-old infant tossed him out the window after he returned from a hospital visit because she thought he was possessed, police sources said Monday.

Rashida Chowdury, 21, is accused of throwing her baby boy, Rizwan Ahmed, from the fourth floor of her apartment building on the corner of 115th Street and Myrtle Avenue into the courtyard Friday after 4 a.m., according to police.

The sources said the baby was treated for a viral infection at North Shore LIJ for three days and had just returned home hours before he died.

Official sources said Rizwan’s mother believed he was possessed by an evil spirit.

Chowdury was charged Saturday with second-degree murder of a person less than 11 years old, authorities said.

A neighbor who lives a couple of doors down heard the incident occur and called 911.

“I woke up to feed my baby and I heard a thump like a book hit the floor,” Mazol Ilyayeva, 20, said. “I looked outside and saw it was a baby and I screamed and then called 911.”

Ilyayeva said police asked her to do CPR but arrived within a couple minutes.

Police said residents within the apartment were taken in for questioning, but the mother was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

Ilyayeva said she saw the family leaving with the police. The mother was holding her husband and the rest of the family left the building expressionless from the scene.

She said she did not know the family too well.

She said she said hello once to the mother but never got a response.
