The Blau Weiss Gottschee (BWG) U8 Blue team played Vera Soccer Academy this weekend and picked up right where they left off last week, scoring 11 goals in an impressive 11-2 victory.

The boys got off to a quick start, scoring their first goal in the opening 30 seconds of the contest. The goals were spread around the team, with four for Adrian Ithurralde, two for Jeremy Salazar, and one goal apiece for Gonzalo Manrique, Massimo Fargnoli, Youseff Elfaham, Eduardo Manrique and Peter Giannone.

The BWG 2003 team started its season with two great wins. First the boys won in the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League (CJSL) opener 6-3 against Chelsea Piers, then the kids won their first NY Cup game 4-1 against the NY Stars.

In the NYCFC league, all of the BWG teams were victorious against DUSC, playing all the games at Pier 40 in Manhattan. As of now, after four games in the new league that is organized and run by the MLS team NYCFC, the 2006s and 2005s Blue teams are undefeated.

On the academy side, BWG, once again, faced off against MLS opposition with great success. On Saturday, the 14s tied against NYCFC 0-0. The 16s lost a close encounter against Montreal Impact 2-1, while the 18s won their game 1-0 against the Montreal Impact.

In the local derby, the 13s pre-academy team won against Met Oval 5-2. Goals for the 13s were scored by Trevor Muller, Sal Russo, Henry Carino, Jack McGlynn and Niko Andrioupoulos.
