A Whitestone resident wanted by police in connection with the death of a Queens Village mother, who was his girlfriend, was arrested in Virginia Friday afternoon, according to the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office.

The body of Angie Escobar, 28, who was reported missing Sept. 8, was found in the trunk of her father’s car, which Luis Zambrano, 30, was last seen driving, Sept. 10 at about 8:36 p.m., according to the NYPD.

Zambrano was arrested in Daleville, Va., and charged with being a fugitive from justice because he was wanted in a different state, according to Delbert Dudding, Botetourt County’s chief deputy. NYPD officials said Zambrano was arrested at about 2 p.m.

He was arraigned Friday afternoon and will eventually be sent back to New York, Dudding said.

Police responded to a 911 call of a suspicious 2004 Nissan Maxima in the area of 22nd Avenue and Murray Street in Whitestone.

After getting into the trunk, officers discovered Escobar, who was unconscious and unresponsive with stab wounds to the torso, officials said.

An investigation found that Zambrano was last seen driving the vehicle, discovered near his home on 150th Street between 22nd and 23rd Avenues, police said.
