Astoria woman wakes up to find burglar in her apartment: police

Police are looking for a burglar who entered an Astoria apartment through an unlocked window and accidentally woke up a woman.

The suspect entered a residence in the vicinity of 21st Street and 26th Road on July 22 at approximately 5:40 a.m., according to cops. A 38-year-old female sleeping on a couch at the time of the incident confronted the man, who then fled through the front door. He was last seen fleeing westbound on 26th Road.

No property was removed from the residence, and the victim was not harmed.

Authorities described the suspect as a Hispanic man who is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 180 pounds. He has black hair and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts.
