Swimming classes being offered at Richmond Hill High School

Dive into swimming lessons this winter.

The Swim Strong Foundation is accepting registration for their January/February 2016 session at Richmond Hill High School, located at 89-30 114th St., and other locations throughout Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan.

They offer four different types of classes, ranging from beginner classes to ones for more experienced swimmers.

The Get Ready, Get Wet program helps build comfort and confidence in preparation for actual swim instruction. The 30 minute class introduces new swimmers to the water. Children as young as three years old can participate if an adult family member joins them in the water.

The Learn to Swim class helps students earn proper breathing and streamlining techniques, freestyle and backstroke. This is a one hour class.

Swim Strong offers a Competitive and Stroke Enhancement class which helps improve speed and stamina across all events. The two to two and a half hour class is for swimmers who are already on a swim team but needs to refine their technique. The class is appropriate for triathletes, competitive swimmers and water sport clinic participants.

The Adaptive Program provides water safety education and teaches the swimming skills that will help children be safe, effective and confident in the water.
