The sky’s the limit in Long Island City.
A 964-foot tower, which developers plan to erect near the Citigroup tower if permits are issued, will be the largest building in the borough, trumping the planned 70-story Queens Plaza Park.
On Saturday, Flushing-based developer Chris Jiashu Xu filed plans for the 79-story tower located at 23-15 44th Dr. The 778,000-square-foot tower would contain 774 apartments with 20,000 square feet allotted for retail on the ground floor, plans show. The project will be called Court Square City View Tower, according to the developer’s website.
The largest concentration of apartments would be located on the lower floors, while the number of units on higher floors would gradually begin to taper out. The fifth floor would hold 32 units and the sixth floor would house 24 units. Floors 11 through 60 would house 11 units per floor and three units would dot floors 76 through 78.
The architect firm on record is Goldstein, Hill & West Architects.
Xu bought the property with his brother George Xu for $143 million in July, according to published reports. The project would break ground in 2017, the website said.
