Two thugs beat man with metal pole in Woodside, NYPD says

A man was left in critical condition after two men beat him down with a metal pole in Woodside early Saturday morning, police reported.

According to police, officers from the 108th Precinct responded to a 911 call at approximately 1:45 a.m. and found Martin Quiej, 34, with severe lacerations on his head outside of 41-24 54th St.

Police apprehended one suspect, a 21-year-old male, near 53rd Street and Skillman Avenue, sources said. The second suspect — identified as an Hispanic male, last seen wearing blue jeans, black shoes and a gray jacket — fled the scene.

Quiej was transported to Elmhurst Hospital where he was listed as in critical condition.

No arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing.
