Police seek subway offender

JAMAICA — Police sought the public’s help in trying to identify a man who forcibly touched a woman at the Jamaica Center subway station earlier this month.

On May 6, at about 6:30 p.m., a 23-year-old woman was heading up the escalator from the “J” subway in the Jamaica Center station, according to the NYPD. Police said a man then approached her from behind and slapped her buttocks. The woman was able to take a cell phone picture of the man after he touched her, according to police. She then left the station while the man remained inside it.

Police described the man as being in his mid-30s, about 5-foot-9, with brown hair and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and tan pants.

Police asked anyone with information of the incident or the man to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1 (800)-577-TIPS, or to submit a tip online at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
