Food lovers in Queens who are searching for a diverse culinary experience should look no further than the Taste of Sunnyside― an event that celebrates the local eateries and beverages that the neighborhood has to offer.

On May 24, participants will be able to sample food and drinks from 30 restaurants, breweries and wine purveyors under a block-long tent at 46th street and Queens Boulevard, right under the elevated 7 train. This is the third year the Sunnyside Shines Business Improvement District will host the event outdoors.

The food reflects the neighborhood’s and the borough’s ethnic diversity; Mexican, Thai, Italian Chinese, French and Irish food will all be served, along with beer made from local breweries.

Bites will be provided by Salt and Fat and Venturo Osteria, which have both been recognized by Michelin as Bib Gourmand picks in 2016. Other participating restaurants include some newcomers such as Williamsburger, La Adelita, Cafe 52 and The Lowery Bar and Kitchen, which has not officially opened yet.

“The Taste of Sunnyside offers more than food sampling – it’s a celebration of the neighborhood’s diversity and local character,” said Rachel Thieme, executive director of Sunnyside Shines. “Whether it’s your first time to Queens or you’ve lived here all your life, we think you’ll love this event and we hope to see you there.”

Queens-based breweries will also offer samples of their concoctions including Big Alice Brewing, Finback Brewing and Queens Brewery. Drinks will also be provided by Maggie Mae’s, Manhattan Beer Distributors, Lowery Wines and Liquors and Claret Wine Bar.

General admission tickets are $35 and VIP tickets, which offer early entry, are $65. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and participants are encouraged to buy tickets early since the event sells out quickly.
