Police search for suspect in LIC robbery: NYPD

LONG ISLAND CITY — Police were searching for a suspect in a Long Island City grand larceny.

A 40-year-old woman was approached on the street by an unknown man in front of 12-09 Jackson Ave. May 25, police said. The man asked the victim for a cigarette and when she said she didn’t have one, the man snatched her cellphone out of her hand and fled to the Jackson Avenue No. 7 subway station, police said.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man, 5-foot-11 around 180 pounds with short hair. He was last seen wearing light colored shorts, light colored T-shirt and black sneakers.
