By Mark Hallum

A thief is still on the loose after holding up a Subway restaurants in Bayside June 1, Forest Hills last Friday, Oakland Gardens on Sunday and yet another in Far Rockaway on Monday night, Police said.

The knife-wielding robber is wanted in connection with several other incidents in Queens, Nassau and Suffolk, where he enters the establishment, demands cash from the drawer and then leaves, police said.

At about 8:55 p.m. last Friday, a man believed to be the same suspect took $300 from a 20-year-old male employee at a Subway location in Forest Hills at 64-29 108th St., police said.

The Oakland Gardens robbery happened at approximately 4:00 p.m., and $500 was taken from the register.

Monday night’s robbery took place at a Subway restaurant in Far Rockaway. The same suspect armed with a knife took about $300 from the register and left, police said.

The man is described by the police as black, 5-foot-9, of medium build and was last seen in a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Ted Anagnostos, owner of the Subway located at 205-12 Northern Blvd., said the suspect was not in the shop any longer than two minutes when $360 was stolen from the register at 9:25 p.m..

The Robbery Squad from the 111th Precinct responded.

“I was very happy about the procedure the employees followed. They were trained to give the robber the tray and to lock the door—make sure they’re safe first—and call 911. There were no customers in the store at the time, which I’m happy about. Nobody was hurt,” Anagnostos said.

Five patrolmen and three undercover officers initially responded to the call, according to the owner.

Police searched the neighborhood looking for the discarded cash drawer but did not find it.

Other Queens robberies the suspect is believed to have carried out occurred within the confines of the 106th 109th and 112th precincts and included two Dunkin Donuts and a Carvel, Breaking News Network, the NYPD said.
