Police are looking for an armed robber who entered a Boost Mobile store in Astoria and unsuccessfully attempted to steal cash from the register.

On Friday, July 15, at 7:43 p.m., the suspect entered the cellphone store at 25-38 Broadway and displayed a silver handgun. He told the employee, a 22-year-old woman, not to scream and to give him the money in the cash register, police said.

The employee did scream and started to throw random objects at the robber. He came behind the counter to try to force her to open the cash register but she did not comply and continued to throw objects at him.

The robber then fled the store. There were no reported injuries.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male wearing a long-sleeved, purple shirt with METRO PCS written on it, black shorts, black sneakers, a black Yankees baseball cap and dark sunglasses.
