Get ready to see more markings on the roads as the Department of Transportation (DOT) is preparing to install more bike lanes throughout Ridgewood and Middle Village.

In an effort to expand their bicycle network, DOT is implementing Phase 3 of its initiative in Community Board 5 (CB 5) by bringing bike lanes to four roadways: Eliot Avenue between 69th Street and Woodhaven Boulevard; 80th Street from Juniper Boulevard North to 57th Avenue; 63rd Avenue between Dry Harbor Road and Woodhaven Boulevard; and 69th Street from Metropolitan Avenue to Maurice Avenue.

This phase of DOT’s network will create additional bike lane connections to existing the bike lanes in the communities, reduce speeding along the roadways, better organize traffic and expand the overall bicycle lane network.

Implementation of the bike lanes on the roads is expected to begin in late September.
