COLLEGE POINT—What was initially believed to be an attempted abduction in College Point now turns out was a simple mix-up, according to police.
Police said a 9-year-old girl was standing in front of PS 129 on 7th Avenue and 129th Street last Friday when a man reportedly grabbed her hands and dragged her, police said. The victim was able to free herself and run back into the school where she talked to a teacher.
But authorities later said that the man who approached the young girl was actually a family friend whom she did not recognize because she had not seen him in a long time.
According to police, no criminality is suspected.
