Police have arrested an individual involved in an assault on a Briarwood street this summer that left a senior citizen dead.

Following an investigation, the individuals were identified as 42 year-old Matthew Smith and 39-year-old Elena Makarova. Smith was arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide and assault with intent to cause physical injury. Makarova has not yet been apprehended.

The NYPD released a video last week of the suspects wanted in connection with the June 26 assault that took place around midnight at the corner of Queens Boulevard and Main Street.

Law enforcement sources said 64-year-old Patrick Gorman of Main Street in Briarwood was standing at the intersection when an unidentified male approached him. The suspect then punched Gorman in the head, causing him to fall to the ground.

The unidentified suspect fled the scene with an unknown female.

Officers from the 107th Precinct responded to the scene along with EMS units. Gorman, who suffered slight head trauma, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital. He was later removed and transferred to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
