Detectives are searching for two men who assaulted and stabbed a 16-year-old boy during an argument on a Jackson Heights street on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the incident occurred at about 2 p.m. on Dec. 27 in the vicinity of 35th Avenue and 93rd Street.

Law enforcement sources said the victim became engaged in a verbal dispute with two unidentified male suspects; the motive remains under investigation.

The words escalated into violence, police said, when one of the suspects pulled out a knife and stabbed the 16-year-old male in the lower back, causing a puncture wound and bleeding. The other assailant also punched the teenager in the face.

Both suspects then fled the scene on foot southbound along 93rd Street toward Roosevelt Avenue.

Officers from the 115th Precinct responded to the incident. The teenager suffered injuries which were not life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing.
