The city is looking to develop a portion of land in Long Island City to create a mixed-use project that includes commercial space, community space and housing.
Located at 11-24 Jackson Ave., the 58,000-square-foot site is located on a below-grade rail yard. The Economic Development Corporation and Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) have issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) and will eventually choose a developer to build up the site.
“This project represents a great opportunity to meet a variety of neighborhood needs in Long Island City,” said NYCEDC President Maria Torres-Springer. “We’re thrilled to be working with our partners in government to bring mixed-income housing and other uses to 11-24 Jackson Ave.”
For the housing portion, the city is looking for developers to propose a “mixed-income housing program that contributes to the city’s goal of fostering economically diverse neighborhoods.”
The city is looking to fulfill Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) participation goals and all respondents will be required to submit an M/WBE Participation Proposal with their response.
An optional informational session will be held on Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. at EDC headquarters at 110 William St.
The deadline to submit an RFP is April 21 at 4 p.m.
