An off-duty emergency medical technician who works for the FDNY was arrested for stabbing his girlfriend in a Long Island City home on Tuesday.
Peter Matura, 31, got into a verbal dispute with his girlfriend at a home on 50th Avenue on March 14 at about 1:30 p.m., police said. Matura threw the victim against the wall, causing pain and swelling on her body and head. He also stabbed her in the stomach, causing a laceration.
When Matura’s girlfriend tried calling 911, he took the phone from her and smashed it on the floor. His girlfriend was later taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition.
The EMT was charged with assault, grand larceny, criminal mischief, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment, police said.
