For the fourth year in a row, Queens breweries and bars will work together to run a host of events to promote local businesses and raise money for two organizations.
Queens Beer Week will start with a kick-off party at LIC Landing along the Long Island City waterfront on May 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The nine-day event will allow ticket holders to try craft beer from local brewers and a chance to visit several bars in the neighborhood.
The event will benefit Friends of Firefighters, an organization that offers free counseling and wellness services to retired and current FDNY firefighters, and the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy, nonprofit volunteer-run organization that hosts events and cleanups along the waterfront.
Events include a metal night at Diamond Dogs, where attendees will listen to metal records spun by employees from Astoria brewery SingleCut Beersmiths. The event will take place on May 9 from 9 p.m. to 4 p.m.
On the same night, Forest Hills Station House will be offering an all Queens beer menu from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Rockaway Brewing Company will host Queens Cans on May 12, where beer lovers will be able to pick up new beer and bottle releases from their favorite Queens breweries from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Attendees will also be able to meet the brewers behind the product.
Participating breweries include Big Alice Brewing Co., Bridge & Tunnel Brewery, Descendant Cider Co., Finback Brewery, ICONYC Brewery, LIC Beer Project, Transmitter Brewing, Rockaway Brewing Company and SingleCut Beersmiths.
Tickets cost $40 and give you unlimited samples from all the Queens Beer Week participants. For a full list of events, visit the Queens Beer Week website.
