Patriotic hearts swelled with pride across Queens this Memorial Day weekend as communities honored the sacrifices of American soldiers with a litany of parades and ceremonies.

Memorial Day weekend serves as the unofficial start of summer, and even though the weather felt more like autumn, that didn’t stop hundreds of people from turning out at each march to applaud those who served in defense of our country.

Veterans posts across Queens participated in each of the marches along with various youth groups, community organizations and elected officials. Spectators proudly waved American flags and cheered on the parade participants as they marched.
