It’s going to be a “Spielberg Summer” at the Museum of Moving Image in Astoria, which will be screening the director’s movies for the next two months.

The screening series “See It Big! Spielberg Summer” began on July 3 with showings of “Jaws,” “Jurassic Park” and “Duel.” Through July 16, attendees will be able to watch the prolific directors greatest hits like “E.T,” “The Color Purple,” “Saving Private Ryan” and more.

In addition to screenings, the museum will host a virtual reality bike ride with E.T. workshop on July 18 at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Families will use clay and drawing materials to create a three-dimensional version of outer space. Participants will take turns pedaling through their outer space world using a stationary bike and Google Cardboard virtual reality viewers. Children will also be able to decorate their own virtual reality glasses.

Each screening costs $15 for adults, $11 for seniors and students and $7 for kids age 3 to 17 years old. Tickets also include admission to all the exhibits in the museum.

Spielberg, who has been making movies for 45 years, went to his first movie when he was 5 years old. His father took him to watch “The Greatest Show on Earth.”

“My father said, ‘It’s going to be bigger than you but that’s all right,” Spielberg said. “The people in it are going to be up on a screen and they can’t get out at you.’ But there they were up on the screen and they were getting out at me. I guess ever since then I’ve wanted to involve the audience as much as I can, so that they no longer think they’re sitting in an audience.”
