Video shows man who exposed himself to a woman and tried to rape her in Woodside

Police have released security camera footage of a man who exposed himself to a woman, then attempted to sexually assault her in Woodside last week.

Law enforcement sources said the unidentified male approached the 24-year-old woman in the area of Woodside Avenue and 61st Street at 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 17.

According to authorities, the perpetrator pretended to have a firearm, then exposed himself and forced the woman to touch his genitals. He then tried to lure the victim to a secluded area adjacent to a construction site. Police said the woman was able to run away from him after seeing people walking through the area.

The incident was reported to the 108th Precinct; the woman was not seriously injured.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male with brown hair believed to be 25 years of age with a light complexion, standing 5 foot 7 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. He was last observed wearing a gray hooded jacket, dark green pants and a gray cap.
