I Am Big Bird — For 45 years, Caroll Spinney has been beloved by generations of children as the man behind Sesame Street’s Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch. A thoughtful portrait of the man in the yellow suit, I Am Big Bird features extraordinary footage of Spinney’s earliest collaborations with Jim Henson as it traces his journey from bullied child to childhood icon.

Wheelchair Football Clinic — The NYC Parks Wheelchair Football Clinic welcomes girls and boys to take part in instructional drills, strategy, and game play. All equipment is provided. Teams consist of six players and must include one female and one quadriplegic participant. The field is 60 yards by 22 yards with eight yards at each end zone. First down marker lines are drawn every 15 yards. Games are played in two 20 minute halves with 10 minutes for halftime. Scoring a touchdown is six points.

New York Classical Players — The New York Classical Olayers collaborate with world-renowned pianist HaeSun Paik, top prize winner at Queen Elisabeth, Leeds, William Kapell and Tchiakovsky competitions, performing as soloist in Beethoven’s lyrical piano concerto No. 4. The program opens with rising star composer Eric Nathan’s “Omaggio a Gesulado” as the premier performance in string orchestra version. NYCP also performs Shostakovich’s Scherzo and Allegro as well as Saint-Saens’ well-loved virtuoso violin work featuring musical polymath Ken Hamao.
