The NYPD was looking for two police impersonators who allegedly robbed a 60-year-old man in Elmhurst last week. The two suspects driving a gray sedan approached the victim in the vicinity of Ithaca Avenue and Britton Avenue just after 3 p.m. and identified themselves as police officers, according to the NYPD.
The driver was wearing an identification holder around his neck when he exited the vehicle and ordered the victim to raise his arms. The passenger also exited the car and acted as a lookout while the driver frisked the victim, taking around $100 from his pants pocket, police said.
The suspects jumped back into the car and sped away from the scene. There were no injuries reported, police said.
The driver is described as a Hispanic man with a light complexion, 6-foot-tall and 250 lbs. He was last seen wearing a green long sleeve shirt, black sweat pants and white sneakers, according to the NYPD.
The second suspect is also described as a Hispanic man with a dark complexion, last seen wearing a light colored shirt, police said.
