Two men were robbed at gunpoint inside the John F. Murray Playground in Long Island City last week, according to the NYPD.
The two victims, a 23-year-old and a 24-year-old, were approached by two individuals and engaged in conversation in the vicinity of 45th Avenue and 11th Street around 6:30 p.m. Nov. 29, police said.
One of the suspects allegedly lifted his shirt to reveal a handgun in his waistband and demanded the two victims’ property, police said. They complied by handing over their cell phones and wallets.
The two suspects then allegedly forced the 23-year-old man to Palace Fried Chicken, located at 44-45 21st St., where they had him withdraw $100 in cash from an ATM, police said. The two individuals then fled southbound on 21st Street, according to the NYPD.
Police described the first suspect as a black man in his 20s, last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. The second suspect is a black man in his 20s, last seen wearing a black and white varsity-style jacket, black sweatpants and black sneakers.
