The Wiz — In this retelling of “The Wizard of Oz,” Dorothy (Diana Ross) is a young teacher living in Harlem who is swept away to Oz. The first movie to be filmed at Kaufman Astoria Studios after it reopened in the 1970s, “The Wiz” transformed many recognizable New York City sites into the Land of Oz. Filled with hit songs and an all-star cast, this re-imagining of the classic film has become a favorite.
