Hardhat-wearing crook steals copper wire twice from Con Edison storage site in Maspeth

Cops are looking for a man who broke into a storage facility in Maspeth on two separate occasions and took a huge quantity of copper wire.

According to police, at 3:40 p.m. on March 17, an unknown man entered a Con Edison facility located at 57-27 49th St., which police believe is used as a storage site for the company. It’s not known how he got inside, but once he entered, he removed a large quantity of copper wire from inside.

The thief returned to the facility on April 12. At 9:50 a.m. that day, the suspect entered the building through unknown means and 15 sections of 20 foot copper wire from inside.

Police describe the suspect as a black man in his 50s. He was last seen wearing a green construction helmet with a light on top.
