The opening of a temporary location for the Far Rockaway Library that is under construction has been stalled, according to Queens Library spokeswoman Ewa Kern-Jedrychowska.
Far Rockaway Library, which is located at 1637 Central Ave., was closed Sept. 28 for a $33 million state-of-the-art overhaul that would double the size of the original building, according to Kern-Jedrychowska.
In order to maintain services for the community, the library had planned to open a temporary location at 1003 Beach 20th St. in Far Rockaway on Oct. 30, but the relocation has been delayed and the announcement for a new move in date has yet to be determined, according to Kern-Jedrychowska.
Queens Library will instead provide a mobile library service on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in front of the Far Rockaway Teen Center located at 2002 Cornaga Ave.
The new Far Rockaway Library is expected to open in three years.
