On the eve of Halloween, the 103rd Precinct released two safety tip videos with one geared to the ghostly holiday and another geared to preventing car thefts.

The holiday-specific video asks parents to remind kids to allows travel in groups, wear reflective tape on bags and costumes and to carry flashlights when trick-or-treating at night to stay safe, according to the NYPD.

The 32-second video also states that kids should only go to homes with porch lights on, stay in neighborhoods that are familiar and that parents inspect all candy before eating them or allowing their children to have some.

The second video is a warning against leaving cars running even for just a minute. One in five auto thefts in New York City is the result of drivers leaving their keys in a vehicle, according to the NYPD.
