The Hillcrest Jewish Center is inviting the community to its annual fund-raising concert Great Cause and Great Quality, where a portion of the proceeds will be donated in honor of the Pittsburgh Tree of Life Synagogue victims.

Gathering Time, an award-winning folk rock trio, will be performing the songs of Jewish artists at the center — located at 183-02 Union Turnpike in Fresh Meadows — Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m.

“We see it as a community and getting together for people of all faiths and national backgrounds to unite together, and to show love and compassion and understanding, rather than what the shooting represented,” said Rami Weiss-Carmeli, a volunteer at Hillcrest Jewish Center.

The proceeds will be donated to the HIAS organization, a Jewish American nonprofit that provides humanitarian aid assistance to refugees, said Weiss-Carmeli.

Gathering Time will be performing the songs and music of Jewish artists such as Carole King, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Billy Joel, Neil Diamond and many more, according to Weiss-Carmeli.

This year’s concert will help maintain the Hillcrest Jewish Center with its long history of sponsorship and support of various local community-minded programs such as: The Weekly Gold Senior Center with a healthy body, soul yoga class, nutritious meals, stimulating speakers/entertainers; and monthly group meditation sessions.

Other programs include the annual Passover Seder for the Disabled and the Salute to Israel Parade; the Year-Round Caring-Circle Mitzvah projects such as feeding the needy and visiting the infirmed; and ongoing social and sports activities for teens/youth groups and scholarships for special summer camps and trips.

For tickets, call (718) 380-4145 or purchase at the door before the concert. Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for teenagers ages 13 to 18, and free for children ages 13 and under. Reserved seats are available for $36.
