A 78-year old Jamaica woman was struck and killed Thursday afternoon near the St. John’s University campus, police said.

Officers from the 107th Precinct responded to a 911 call Nov. 8 at approximately 4:09 p.m. of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the vicinity of Union Turnpike and 177th Street. Upon arrival, the officers determined that a 2010 Lincoln Navigator was traveling westbound on Union Turnpike when it struck the victim, identified as Juana Alland of Village Road in Jamaica, who was attempting to cross over Union Turnpike, mid-block.

EMS arrive at the location and transported the victim to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens for head trauma, where she was pronounced dead, according to authorities.

No arrests have been made and the investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad was ongoing.
