Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 6. It is a time for all registered voters to do our civic duty and vote.
There are many issues out there that demand our concern and attention. Remember, what our elected officials do effects all of us, especially senior citizens like myself who worry about our benefits being reduced.
According to the AARP, Social Security will fall short in 2034. If that happens, benefits will drop by 20 percent.
Also, prescription drug costs are increasing at a rate faster than inflation. And added to all that, the Medicare trust fund will fall short by 2026. These are important issues for all of our seniors to worry about.
That is why I call upon seniors to get out and vote for those candidates who will work hard for these issues. Do some research, find out who they are and how they vote.
So get your walkers, canes and wheelchairs and vote. Let our elected officials know that we are an important voting block. Remember this: our senior citizens made this great nation what it is today.
