Woman stabbed in Fresh Meadows dispute succumbs to injuries at hospital, cops say (UPDATED)

Police reported that one of the victims in a double stabbing at a Fresh Meadows home on Tuesday afternoon has died.

Sources familiar with the investigation said that the attack appeared to be the result of a domestic dispute. Reports said that the victims were the wife and daughter of the alleged assailant, who was taken into custody at the scene.

Police have identified the deceased victim as 44-year-old Fatima Jawad.

At around 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 15, officers from the 107th Precinct were informed of a woman who had allegedly been stabbed at an apartment house on 69th Avenue near 193rd Lane.

Upon arriving at the location, police found 44-year-old Jawad with “several stab and slash wounds to her torso” and an 18-year-old woman with slash wounds to her wrists and hands.

EMS personnel responded to the scene to transport the victims to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens hospital in Flushing where Jawad was pronounced dead. The 18-year-old remains in stable condition.

Police located and arrested the 57-year-old male suspect who sustained slash wounds to his hand. EMS personnel transported the suspect to Queens Hospital in Jamaica for treatment.

The investigation into the case is ongoing with charges pending.
