Police from the 114th Precinct in Astoria are searching for the man behind a diabolical robbery in Dutch Kills that occurred in broad daylight Sunday.

The violent mugging took place around noon on Sept. 12 in front of 21-12 36th Ave., where a 77-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk when the suspect approached her. The NYPD released surveillance video that captured the man striking the senior several times in the face as he pulled away her bag and a Bible.

The assailant then fled on foot eastbound on 35th Avenue, police said.

The victim sustained lacerations on her hands and was evaluated by EMS at the scene but refused further medical attention, according to the NYPD.

The suspect was wearing distinctive cream-colored eyeglasses, a black baseball cap and a black face mask. He was wearing a long-sleeved sweater with gray sweatpants and gray sneakers.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information in regard to the identity of the suspects is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA (74782).
