Bundle up and get out to these special events around the borough this weekend!

GET TESTED AND VACCINATED

Before doing anything in person, get tested for COVID-19 and get vaccinated and boosted! Also, don’t forget to wear your mask indoors and socially distance wherever possible.

To slow the spread of COVID-19, the New York City Department of Health suggests getting tested often. Here is where you can find several places in Queens to get tested this weekend:

  • Enter your address and find a testing site near you at www1.nyc.gov/site/coronavirus/get-tested/covid-19-testing.page.

  • NYC Health + Hospitals offers several testing sites in Queens.

Saturday, Nov. 19 

Self Awareness: The Art of Reactions (Lewis Latimer House Museum)

How many similarities can we find between acid reactions and our emotional responses? Join our self-awareness science workshop! Participants will learn ways to create calmer emotional responses within themselves (yoga, wellness ideas, stress balls, etc.) to diminish stress, anger and anxiety. 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Free. 34-41 137th Street. 

NYSoM ThanksgivingPalooza 2022 (Ridgewood Savings Bank Glendale Branch)

NYSoM (New York State of Mind) will distribute turkeys and other Thanksgiving food items at our annual ThanksgivingPalooza event. Thanksgiving food will be distributed on a first-come, first serve basis. 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. 65-01 Myrtle Ave. FREE

Sunday, Nove. 20

2022 Queens Marathon and QDR Half Marathon (Flushing Meadows Corona Park)

The Queens Marathon and QDR Half Marathon will be held at the crown jewel park of Queens. Runners have come around to the idea of our looped course, as they bond with the crowd and volunteers who come to remember the personality and determination of each runner. Join us as we celebrate and highlight one of the most energized and diverse counties in America.  For registration and more info, click here.

Floral Design: Holiday Centerpiece (Queens Botanical Garden) 

Try your hand at creating a floral holiday centerpiece to take home and display! Participants will be introduced to tips and techniques used by the pros. All materials and garden admission are included. Recommended for adults and children ages 10+ (accompanied by participating adults). Registration is required. Circus Vazquez (Citi Field)

Get ready for a turbo-charged take on the traditional circus that’s sure to thrill audiences of all ages. From graceful dancers and daring trapeze artists to a hilarious clown, this gasp-inducing performance gathers tons of amazing world-known talent under the big top for a huge dose of family fun. CK Film Festival (CK Studios)

Enjoy the finale of CK Film Festival (powered by Siempre Tequila) is an indie film festival highlighting diverse indie work from around the globe. We look forward to sharing some beautiful & memorable nights with you and the 30+ film’s from around the world!
