Holiday spirit is in the air, especially for one longtime Ridgewood family that wants to spread cheer to their community.

The home, located at 1715 Summerfield St., is decorated from top to bottom with colorful lights and holiday-themed inflatables that will get anyone into the holiday spirit.

However, it isn’t just the front of home that captures the Christmas spirit; the family’s driveway that leads to their backyard is also adorned with decorations.

The home is owned and decorated by Cathy Mazzarella, who has lived in the neighborhood for over 40 years. Each Christmas season, the family goes all out with their decorations in an effort to bring joy to everyone, but especially children.

“I do it for the kids,” Mazzarella said.

Along with the Christmas display, the Mazzarella family also accepts gifts to deliver to Toys for Tots.

This year marks the third year the family has worked with Toys for Tots to deliver gifts to needy children. Last year, they were able to donate 160 toys to the organization.

Their home and driveway are open to the public for people to view throughout the holiday season, and the family invites anyone to stop by to get in the Christmas mood.

“My mother is out here from 6 to 8 [p.m.], weather permitting,” said Giovanni Perra, Mazarella’s son. “She just wants the kids to experience something special.”
