New York State Attorney General Letitia James will speak at Temple Beth-El’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Shabbat on Friday, January 13.

New York State Attorney General Letitia James will keynote Temple Beth-El of Great Neck’s extraordinary Martin Luther King Jr. Shabbat service on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at 7 p.m.

The annual worship service will commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic civil rights speech presented at Temple Beth-El 56 years ago. Temple Beth-El will welcome the entire community to memorialize Dr. King and his message.

James is the first woman of color to hold statewide office in New York and the first woman to be elected attorney general. After nominated to serve as public advocate for the City of New York in 2013, she became the first woman of  color to hold citywide office. As public advocate, James’s office handled more than 32,000 constituent complaints and has passed more legislation than all the previous public advocates combined.

Led by Rabbi A. Brian Stoller and Cantor Adam Davis, the service will not only include special musical  and choral highlights but also readings especially selected for this meaningful, free event.

Temple Beth-El of Great Neck, the peninsula’s very first synagogue, was founded in 1928. To learn more, visit www.tbegreatneck.org, call 516-487-0900 or email info@tbegreatneck.org.
